Mary was born at the homestead, Speedside, Eramosa township. She was married there on Jan. 11, 1876 to George Keith by Rev. Wm Barrie who was the Presbyterian minister at Barrie Hill. They first lived on a rented farm two miles southwest of Elora on Grand River Road. Then they bought a 70 acre farm with no waste land lot 4, concession 2, Pilkington township on what was known as Haig Side Road right beside C.N.R. railroad where she died Sept. 25, 1899 after a lengthy illness.³
